“Stay Tuned” is what M. Dell, CEO of Dell Computers Corp. said in response to DELL | EQUALLOGIC PS-Series storage future support of SSD drives.
This would be groundbreaking in the performance tiers that are available on PS-series storage today. PS-series already supports 7200RPM SATA, 10k RPM SAS and 15K RPM SAS drives in the PS5000 product line. WHEN? THAT IS WHAT WE WANT TO KNOW! While you are at it, when is this product going to get 10GigE?
I honestly believe that PS-series storage tiering and SSD drives puts the HSM story for DELL | Equallogic storage far ahead of the storage industry curve. This also, puts any claims by Compellent, just hot air.
The only thing left to even the playing field for iSCSI vs. FC will be general adoption of 10GigE…we all can’t wait.
